Our Programs

Educators at Kids on Childcare take a holistic approach to observing and planning for young children. We use influences from sociocultural theorist Lev Vygotsky. Vygotsky believes that children learn by engaging with adults and more capable peers. We achieve this by interacting with children on an individual basis as well as small group and large group experiences.

School Readiness

Our school readiness program helps children to be prepared for formal schooling. In conjunction with the Belonging, being and becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF) are learning to be responsible for their own physical health and well-being (DEEWR, 2009).

Nursery

Kids on Carrington’s Nursery education and care room has 12 infants each day between the age of 6 weeks to 2 years.

We have three educators each day, the group leader has a diploma in early childhood education and care and the two assistants will have either a certificate III or diploma of early childhood education and care. We provide consistent educators in the nursery throughout the week and use the same pool of relief educators when our full-time educators are on annual leave or sick leave

Your Child's Routine

When your infant attends the Nursery at Kids on Childcare, their educators will follow the routine you have created for your child. We have an individual routine record for families to complete upon enrolment, this will be updated each time your child moves education and care rooms. This record is kept in your child’s education and care room for educators to reference when needed.
Each child in the Nursery is observed on a regular basis and an individual experience is planned for them. Their observations and planned experiences are kept in their individual learning journal which is available to be viewed at any time in the education and care room.

Pre-Kindy

Kids on Childcare’s Pre-Kindy education and care rooms have 20 toddlers each day between the age of 2-3 years. We have four educators each day, the group leader has a diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and the three assistants will have either a certificate III or diploma of early childhood education and care.

We provide consistent educators in the Pre-Kindy room throughout the week and use the same pool of relief educators when our full time educators are on annual leave or sick leave.

Our 2-3 year olds are independent, busy little people. We help to nurture their developing skills by providing experiences such as, caring for our animals, sensory and dramatic play experiences. PreKindy’s benefit from meaningful interactions with peers and educators, we provide an environment where this is possible on a group and individual basis. PreKindy are mastering their self-help skills and we will assist them with all self-help skills as well as toilet training.

Kindy

School Readiness Program

Our Kindy program is run by an early childhood teacher and has a balance between play based experiences and structured activities, this creates a holistic approach to learning for our children. In the Kindy room our school readiness program is running every day, we encourage and promote the development of social skills and skills required for formal schooling, such as opening lunch boxes, drinking from drink fountains, being responsible for their own belongings and putting on their own shoes. Our Kindy program is based on the children’s interests and abilities; our educators assist children to work in their zone of proximal development by providing them with achievable challenges.
